If you are a student of the Bible Knowledge for SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia) exam, there are 2 textbooks available for sale in the Christian bookroom to guide you. These guides, Acts and Luke are in the friendly Good News version. They are innovatively written and laid out in a readable style. Contain a wealth of knowledge that can also be used as Bible commentaries and well-written for any student who can take the subject by just going through the notes and exercises contained within. The lessons (Questions with Answers which I prepared personally) below, can be downloaded in Word format . They are questions given to my students as weekly tests. Some of them are past years’ questions in the SPM exams while some are questions taken wholly or modified from the text book. Scriptures and texts quoted are from the Good News Bible version. Feel free to use them for revision.

is there more specific format for bk paper ??? like sejarah , they have their theme every year and it changes , the question from last year will not be asked next year ?? can i know ??? or may be forecast ?

refer to past years’ Trial papers with marking scheme’ to gain an insight and understanding on how to give relevant answers. Check out my ‘Luke section’ – i have uploaded ‘Guidelines to answering questions’ and one trial paper wth marking scheme. Your BK guides/textbok on Luke and Acts are very resourceful in providing the info u need. Questions with answers in the guides are important to be noted. if you have regularly done all the exercises in your textbk , you would by now be more familiar and be prepared of what will be expected in the paper. Your BK teacher/tutor should be able to assist you as you prepare for the coming exam.

Hi sailes, paige… hth… i noticed past year questions are a very good source for your revision. Do get repeated questions quite often. There was once the same question was repeated on a following year. However, there is no such “theme” thing in BK which one can spot leh, such as concentrating only on “Discipleship”. Again, a safe guard is to look at the “RED BOOK ” and attempt the past year questions. I have also these questions in the site mentioned above.
You won’t be penalised for grammar mistake or minor spelling mistakes. However, make sure you know how to spell Bethlehem when asked for the place. But i tink if you missed out an “e” or minor mistake, they will still give you marks. But being subjective, please answer in a proper English syntax.
Eg… Where was Jesus’ birthplace?
Answer: Jesus’ birthplace is in Bethlehem.
Write the question number clearly, followed by the Title eg, Visitation of Mary by an angel. Underline the title. Where applicable, answer in a fresh new page – ie don’t try to squeeze everything into a paper – better to answer a new question with a fresh page. Well, that’s my suggestion – markers won’t be too pleased hunting for the answers if they are scattered all over a page. Write legibly too.
If you notice the marking scheme , marks will be given to relevant points written. So write all that you know lah because NO marks will be deducted for irrelevant scribbles. Therefore, memorisation work is very very important. It is either you know or not. As Kimchie mentioned, the texts and the red guide book will you the indication of what is important – names of people, places, their contributions, lessons learnt from parables etc…
Emmm…. chapters that are not important… Aiyah… BK questions can be so unpredictable. However again, the past years chart for both LUKE and ACTs seem to tell us there are certain chapters which are not mentioned at all. Well, you make the final conclusion.
BK questions are not at all tricky. You studied hard and well, you are likely to score. My daughter passed with an A1 for BK. Yes, she did put in effort.

i want to share something to all spm candidates 2008, especially someone who lost his way. i had been lost my way by wasting my time playing and playing. And now, still 2 weeks to go before spm started, i hadn’t even start studying both Luke and Acts. Truely, i was frustrated. But, thanks GOD, really, HE blessed me by showing me His message yesterday:

After reading LUKE 12, from yesterday until now, i manage to study BK without any frustration and nearly finish studying both the chapters. I think i can finish studying BK latest by tomorrow. Could u believe, i manage to study BK and will finish it in 3 days time, by just looking at GOD’s message through LUKE 12 ?

I am curious to know how u manage to study BK in just a few days esp in both books, Luke and Acts. No one can study 2 books by just focusing on Luke 12. I will never encourage any student who is taking BK for SPM to study at the last minute or even during the last year (at Form 5).
Bk requires a minimum of 2 -3 hours of study per week over a period of 2 years. As a student of God’s word, you must put effort to study carefully,diligently and prayerfully. There are so much to cover in Luke and Acts – and I wonder how u managed !
I would like to wish u here – God’s grace and wisdom for you as u prepare for the coming exam.

I am really sorry and empathize with you when you seek help for BK at the last minute. Your exam is just in a few days’ time.
Please connect with friends you know who are taking BK. Study together and share notes with each other. You do not have time to look into every chapter.
There are some ( but not full) past years’ questions and the marking scheme which I have uploaded in my blog. Check out the Luke section and also Acts on your left-hand column.
For context questions in section A, you can answer straight to the point. Marks will not be deducted if you do not write in full sentences.
For long essay questions- you may write in point form giving clear facts from the scripture texts for eg if you are to describe an event that took place – describe the sequence of events in an organised manner, can be in point form in your own words.But sentences must give clear meaning and relevant facts. Look at the marking scheme or answers to past years’ questions.

Hi Steve, hope tis get u in time. Agree with Kimchie… Was told that marks will not be deducted for grammar or spelling mistakes. So i presume point forms will be “allowed” but not preferred. Given two and a half hours to answer the paper, am quite confident that you will have enough time to answer in proper essay type sentences lar. Looking at the marking scheme, the point form itself is rather complete as a sentence in itself. Thus, at the end of the day, it is better to join all these points to narrate them in a comprehensive essay type form. The other thing about point forms is that they tend to be brief and may miss out certain vital points as compared with the paragraph essay type form. Pls review what i hv written above. Yah, use proper spelling ok? no short hand or those sms-type words.

Hey,I’m also taking BK and in my school,there’s only my fren and i taking BK in the whole form 5.Kinda sad to see so little ppl taking this test. =( Anyways,I’ve nvr attended any classes but i’ve read two books myself.And a word of advice to everyone who is taking this exam…Please do not forget to pray before you study.Let me share a testimonial to everyone here,during my exam for maths,sej,english and bm.I laid hands on my papers before i started answering them.To my surprise,I did everything well and relaxed without pressure due to the peace of God.I could feel God’s hand guiding me and i’m so blessed.Before spm started,i prayed each time i started a subject and God helped me spot the questions that were coming out.The results…..Everything i’ve studied came out and some i didn’t focus on didn’t come out. HOW GREAT IS GOD =) In conclusion,We can’t do anything within our own will,but we can with God’s.Please remember to pray everytime u study BK or any other subjects and pray once more before u started the papers. Believe in God. “Seeing isn’t believing but Believing is already seeing”. All the best… I have to catch up on my BK now. God bless you all. =)

I’m taking bk for this coming spm…..but my school is a goverment school..so they do not offer bk classes…i took bk classes from other school which only provides two hours lesson…is that sufficient enough?

Two hours of instruction in class per week over a period of 2 years is the syllabus requirement. If you do need extra, put effort on your own by doing the exercises in your textbk and answer past years’ questions. You must begin studying the 2 books on Luke and Acts early if you want to sit for the SPM BK. Begin in Form 4 or Form 3. Studying the word of God is actually never enough ! God speaks new truths each time as you read and study. Get into small groups if you can to share insights and answers to the questions.

Well….i got 4B for spm this year 2009.It was kinda disappointing.I thought i did well and was expecting an A but i got a 4B.well,Thank God for everything : ) It was a last minute study on four books because i didn’t attend any classes.so i did my own research.Overall i got 4As,6Bs and 1C.Wasn’t satisfied because i studied hard….Maybe God has his plans.Thanks God. =) Psalms 100 –>Enter his Gates with THANKSGIVING and courts with PRAISE!!

Im also taking bible knowledge this year too, Im self studying. So I would appreciate if someone post a website to get trial papers ( or should I say, hope an angel will inspire someone to post trial papers here) . I would like at least 12 sets to do. I have already roughly read through the material.

Hi, I’ a student who’s taking BK for this year’s SPM too. I just have one question I need to ask. Must we memorize every single word in LUKE and ACTS to answer the questions and gain full marks? Do we lose marks if we miss out a word or use a different word?
I was taught that way and it is very difficult to memorize every single word…Help~
Hi Evelyn, i understand that as far as the points are there, you will get the marks. Of course, the safest (kiasu way) is to write out every word. However, you will not be penalised for not following exactly every word by word of the GNB text. example; Both (exact) “They also went to offer a sacrifice of a pair of doves or two young pigeons, as required by the law of the Lord.” or (paraphrased) “They offered a sacrifice of a pair of doves or young pigeons (as the law of the Lord requires).” will get a mark.
Often the section B, we have “Give an account of the events that took place in the Temple…” Questions with “give an account”; “describe”; “narrate”, etc will require you to be very detailed. Memorised the main points – WHEN, WHERE, WHO, WHAT HAPPENED, WHAT WAS THE RESPONSE (if any).

You can download Past Years Chart (a chapter by chapter analysis of past years questions); LUKE- Past Years Questions (till 2008!) and ACTS – Past Years Questions (till 2008!); SECTION B REVISION CHECKLIST for both Luke and Acts (latest till 2008!). Greetings saints, I am new to this site. I have a question I hope someone can answer. I am an American living in Malaysia. I’m trying to learn BM. Some people have suggested reading the BM Bible, and I like that approach but my question is, what is the best translation in both BI and BM? My wife (a Malaysian) has a bilingual Bible, English (NIV) and and Bahasa Indo. But as similar as they are, Bahasa Indo and BM have enough significant differences that it has not helped much. What about the Good News translation? It’s available in both English and BM, and I think it’s simplified (for children) but how good is it? Another friend suggested trying the Catholic Bible. Of course, I know that no matter what I use it will not be exactly the same (word for word) in both languages. It would not make much sense it was. But what’s the closest available? And by the way, I could ask the same question of the Quran, and how it’s interpreted in BM and BI, if anyone has knowledge of that. Thank you in advance and God bless you all.
Grundy nice to meet you. most malaysian do fell this conditon of translation problem, so you have to figure out what sentence does not bring the actual meaning of english text. I do know what the translation of some words and sentences will not bring the same meaning. so you may post the words here and i guess most of us will help you

My daughter is in Form 4 this year and she insists on taking BK. I am not able to get a teacher for her and some people I spoke with said that I should be able to coach her. I am not a teacher by profession nor am I good in my bible knowledge. I am trying to use this website and some help from other BK teachers to coach my daughter. Feedback appreciated.

It’s a blessing and joy to hear of your daughter’s ‘insist on taking BK’. Not many youths are interested in this subject. It takes much effort to persuade or convince them about taking BK not just for knowledge but for spiritual benefits.
If you do need a teacher to help coach her, you may call Scripture Union Office or TCF – Teachers’ Christian Fellowship Malaysia (www.tcfmy.org) for information of teachers or centers which gives tuition on BK. If you living near Dream Centre (Damansara Utama Methodist Church) , they have a BK class going on in the weekends. Check it out for more info.

jus wanna u all 2 noe our god is great, but not 2 take for granted over Him, i did well in my PMR although i did not study a lot.
I’m sitting for bk this year and i’m more worried about it than any other subject. last year , i could score good marks for luke (when i was in form 4) but now, i often score a 60 plus only for my papers that include the whole syllabus. im so worried bout it pulling me down that i forget that my real reason of taking up BK was to bring me closer to god, help kimchie!
for now, my problem is not really remembering the syllabus at depth cos i tend to miss out many important points in my essays n when it comes to those questions on giving a comment etc. i often don’t answer correctly.
got any tips for me? and do pray for me and all other bk students
