Chinese welcome Year of the Ox

The Oxen and the Axle-Trees

-an  Aesop fable

A HEAVY WAGON was being dragged along a country lane by a team of Oxen. The axle-trees groaned and creaked terribly, when the oxen, turning round, thus addressed the wheels: Hallo there! Why do you make so much noise? We bear all the labor, and we, not you, ought to cry out.

Moral:
Those who suffer most cry out the least.

The ox symbolizes diligence, reliability, sincerity, strength and sound judgment.
So here’s wishing you and other readers of this blog an Ox-picious and Ox-cellent year. May our faith in Christ continue to be strong and firm in the times ahead.

Happy Chinese New Year…. ‘ Xing Nian Ping An’

We shall meet you on that beautiful shore…

I haven’t been blogging for a long while. Though I had wished to pen some thoughts or ideas, my heart and mind were too preoccupied with family matters.
My mom was diagnosed with stomach cancer on 3rd April, 2008 and she was called home to be with the Lord on 29th May, 2008 at 7.20pm. When we were informed by the doctor about her illness, we knew then that mom would not live long. The painful ordeal had then begun and it was overwhleming for the family. Surgery and chemotherapy were not the options we took as there were risks involved. Her cancer was the last stage and she survived only 2 months after the diagnosis.

The past months have been trying times for the family. It was not easy to care for a sick dying cancer patient. Nursing, feeding, cleaning and massaging to make mom the most comfortable took a toil on some family members. However we thanked God for His grace and strength to see us through.

Mom passed away peacefully without having to take morphine. Her two son-in-laws and the maid were by her bedside when she breathed her last.

A memorial webpage has been set up in ‘In loving Memory of Madam Kong Ah Kui’.

Mom was buried in Subang Lutheran Garden.

Mr David Boler was also buried here not long ago. It was a comforting sight for me! I decided to take a snapshot of his plot. He and my mom are about 6 plots apart in the same line on the burial ground.

“ You are both deeply missed. Departed yet unforgotten..”
“Mom, memories of you will be forever etched in our hearts….”

I like Dave Walker’s cartoons.

Apology !
Sorry – you have reached the End of the Internet
This is the VERY last page.
No more links. No more exciting sites to visit – NOTHING.

Please turn off your computer and get a life!!!
Thank you for visiting the INTERNET.

Can you imagine what will happen if you were to see that message pop in front of your computer screen? We have all become so dependable on the net at every corners of the world- in the school, in the home, at work place, etc. It has become the ‘in thing’ we had enjoyed so far. I can imagine it will be all too tragic if there is no more internet. We would become so handicapped – no more e-mailing, no more Skype, no more MSN chats, information disappears, no more networks and of course no more blogging ! Will life be boring, messy or just plain simple?

I have been very much hook on the net for most times at work – networking, research-ing, web updating, emailing and blogging. If my PC was to hang or if it goes offline, I would find myself to feel handicap and lost. Turning to our traditional tools of communication, which we once used, will seem so alien and a struggle. We had all been too comfortable… ;)

You have now seen everything worth to see in the virtual world.

So, turn off your computer

Step on outside

Meet your neighbours in real life,

Share a cup of coffee with them
Chat with them

Play with the kids in the streets
Read a book
Sit and stare into the physical world
Connect with God

Feel free to do what you want to do

Feel the awesome feeling of

NOT BEING CONNECTED TO THE NET.
:)

Mmm..m..   ;)  for that break- my tired eyes and lenses will surely feel good..
