Choc Muffins

Here are some muffins I made and brought for the kiddies at the KVA (Klang Valley Alliance) Leaders & Families Retreat, Port Dickson in June. Sorry!…no specific recipes or instructions. They can be found on the leaflet in the pack when you purchase these all-mixed flour from Bake With Yen shop. They have a branch in Puchong. It’s quick and easy – that’s what I like ! Beat up the eggs with milk and oil. Add the mixed flour into the wet ingredients. Spoon the batter into lovely paper muffin cups if you have. Fill up 2/3 of the cup and bake for 20 mins at 180 degrees. Hooray!….your moist muffins are ready for the kiddies and choc lovers. Yummmmmy!  :)

On a different note

A new collection of books and files have piled up on my work-table….

books

Some friends have asked..”How did you venture into this course?” “What made you be interested in special kids?” I started taking up a course on ‘Learning Disorders Management & Child Psychology’ with Linguistic Council Malaysia in Sept-Oct last year. Getting into this field is nothing new for me but just floating  on a little different note. What motivated me – the innocence and giftings of 2  kids, Alden (my nephew-brother’s son) and my 14-year old God-son who have some form of learning disabilities.  I saw how a child with autism behaves and sometimes wished I could see or feel the world as they do ! They may be different in some ways but they are very special !

Getting back to studies is a challenge, hardwork and well, it has some satisfaction too…(am so pleased I had completed 3 modules which produce good results. PTL!) I am now in my last module on Child Psychology.

Getting to do some hands-on and exposure at NASOM, Emmanuel Care Center (for children with learning disabilities) and the Dyslexia Association of Malaysia was also an eye-opener. I am still learning!

And well, putting aside books and papers sometimes, I try also to engage in baking, cooking, photography and blogging!. That’s how I de-stressssss!. … it’s fun! :)

Christmas wraps

Here’s another handicraft done with the kids of Life Builders Assembly some weeks ago. They learnt how to make little ‘pillow-like’ boxes as gift wrap. It’s simple! Materials needed : double-sided tape, a template, some cardboards for drawing out the template, nice wrappers, ribbons, glue. Glue template on the wrapping paper, cut it out and then fold into pillow-like.

use these boxes for putting in some favorite candies or chocolates…

Nice little gifts for this christmas season!

Papierlove

Paper ! any sorts, any colors or texture. You can do wonders with it – punch, cut, tear or fold.
It will be ‘kiddies time’ again this saturday evening at Life Builders Assembly. There are at the moment a handful of 3 to 4 toddlers with another 3 or 4 of the older primary ones and I’ve come up with some ‘ORIGAMI’ for them this week – of ‘shirts’ and ‘angel fish’.

For the last few weeks or so when I was on duty, the kids have created some wonderful stuff out of cards and color papers…..

Photo Frame made out from old plastic cd covers.
(materials or tools needed : glue, craft scissors, paper punch, nice color papers ) . You can get those paper punches of various patterns from Papierlove @ The Curve, Damansara or at Jusco stores.

I like those punches. Punch out various patterns and the kids will enjoy pasting them to decorate the frames.

Baa-a-a-a Baa-a-a-a!

sheep5.jpgBaa-a-a-a! Baa-a-a-a!
Help, i’m running out of creative juices!.
Come this saturday, i have to teach a preschoolers class. It is one of those norms on Saturdays – no afternoon naps or leisure mall walks. Just some quick errands to run in the morning, and then ready with my gears and heavy stuff for BK (Bible Knowledge) class for the students in the afternoon, then Chinese worship service in Life Builders’ Assembly in the evening.
Preparing lesson is important and getting the materials at hand is a must. I must confess there are times I’m just practically at a lost – though resources are readily available around me. How do I connect with the kids once again? Where is that spark or inspiration? What shall I do or teach? Am I physically exhausted or just mere laziness to pick up that book, put on my thinking cap, or search my “Sunday school chest” to start creating? I used to be very diligent when children’s ministry was a major emphasis or my full-time calling some years ago. Nevertheless, working with kids is still part and parcel of my service for God. And it is a big job!….
Anyway, internet help was at hand for lazy people like me. I managed to source  a lesson and like  the “sheep and the shephered” or “The Lost Sheep” from www.biblekidsfunzone.com Hope to work further and modified the lesson a bit on Friday night.
Baa-aa-a-a! Help! I need the spiritual insight and age-level insight to connect….baa-a-a-a..
